Know about waterproof grade of lamps and lanterns

The luminaire protection rating system was drafted by the International Electro Technical Commission (IEC).

The lamps will be classified according to their dust-proof, anti-intrusion, waterproof, anti-moisture characteristics.

External objects, including tools and human fingers, shall not touch the live part of the lamp in order to avoid electric shock.

IP:International Protection.

IP protection level is composed of two numbers, the first number represents the lamp dustproof, prevent foreign objects invasion level;

The 2nd number expresses the airtight degree that lamps and lanterns prevent moisture, waterproof to invade.

The greater the number, the higher the protection level. The protection level indicated by the two numbers is as follows:

The first identifier number:

IP0_ : no protection, no special protection against external people or objects.

IP1_ : prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 50mm, prevent the human body (such as the palm) from accidental contact with the internal parts of the lamp.

Prevent the invasion of large size (diameter more than 50mm).

IP2_ : prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 12mm, and prevent human fingers from contacting the internal parts of the lamp.

Prevent medium size (diameter more than 12mm, length more than 80mm) foreign objects from invading

IP3_ : to prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than, to prevent the intrusion of tools, wires or similar small foreign objects larger than diameter or thickness and contact the interior of the lamp.

IP4_ : to prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than, to prevent the intrusion of tools, wires or similar small foreign objects larger than diameter or thickness and contact the internal parts of the lamp.

IP5_ : Dustproof, completely prevent foreign objects from invading.

Although can not completely prevent dust invasion, but the amount of dust invasion will not affect the normal operation of lamps and lanterns.

IP6_ : dust dense, completely prevent foreign objects from entering, and can completely prevent dust from entering.

Second identifier:

0: no protection, no special protection to people or objects outside

IP_1: Prevent water intrusion, vertical drops of water (such as condensed water) will not cause harmful effects on the lamp

IP_2: it can prevent dripping water from entering the lamp when it is tilted from vertical to 15 degrees. When the lamp is tilted from vertical to 15 degrees, dripping water will not cause harmful effects on the lamp. IP_3: it can prevent spraying water from entering the lamp when the Angle between the upper and vertical is less than 60 degrees

IP_4: prevent splashing water intrusion, prevent splashing water from all directions into the lamp damage

IP_5: prevent the intrusion of spray water, prevent the water from the nozzle from all directions from entering the lamp and causing damage

IP_6: protection from heavy waves, lamps installed on deck, protection from water damage caused by heavy waves

IP_7: to prevent water intrusion during immersion, the lamp is immersed in water for a certain time or the water pressure is below a certain standard to ensure that it will not be damaged by water

IP_8: prevent water intrusion when sinking, lamp sinking indefinitely under the specified water pressure condition
